As is now well own, there were many tensions and jealousies within the Beatles. George resented John and Paul for not respecting his songwriting abilities, and Paul for trying to get him to play in a certain way. He later said that Paul had "ruined" him as a guitarist, and he never really let go of this. And yet the band let George become a kind of spiritual leader, let him persuade them to go to India, right at the zenith of their fame and influence. All four were indispensable.

I once read that this song was considered a musical masterpiece. All McCartney genius of course! Although McCartney invented most of the content in the song, Coe, who was 17 at the time, has said that most of it was accurate.

The funny thing is John was trying to compose a song which couldn't be performed live. That was the point of the random radio broadcast being added in at the finale so you could never get the exact same performance again. I guess the challenge makes it all the sweeter. Little did Lennon know technology would come along to make it possible.
